Sorrento is a small city in the Campania region of Amalfi. Famed for its sea cliffs, the town's impressive sea cliffs look out over the seas to the Bay of Naples, Capri and Ischia. The birthplace of Limoncello liqueur offers some great sea fishing, boat cruises and appetizing restaurants, as well as being popular with divers.
Sorrento has a population of approx. 16,500 inhabitants, and is a popular tourist destination on the Amalfi Coast. The town can be easily reached from Naples and Pompeii. The town overlooks the bay of Naples, and many viewpoints in the city allow sights of Naples itself (visible across the bay), Vesuvius and the island of Capri.
As mentioned above, Sorrento is famous for the production of limoncello, an alcoholic digestif made from lemon rinds, alcohol, water and sugar.
